Community Spirit & Rangatahi Talent Shine at The Leigh Sawmill Cafe
Overcoming unexpected obstacles on the night, the recent fundraiser gig at The Leigh Sawmill Cafe turned out to be a resounding success, raising significant funds to kickstart recording for the boys' upcoming album, ’The Heart’ while giving the boys invaluable lessons on self management and running a gig.
On stage, Kydis and Sam delivered a performance marked by confidence and professionalism far beyond their years—a reflection of the ever-growing support network behind them. Running through soulful covers like Allen Stone’s ’Is This Love’ and Katchafire’s ’Seriously’, the duo jammed the night away before delivering the soft launch of ’MAKAURAU’, captivating the crowd and demanding a well-deserved encore.
Special acknowledgment goes to the venue team who made the event possible: Ed Guinness, for his dedication to creating a safe space for rangatahi to expand their talents; Tylah Watts, the backbone of the Mill who kept everything running smoothly; and Suze Kaiser, the unwavering foundation of live events and management.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and contributed to an unforgettable night of music and community.
